Nairobi, Kenya — Partners for Care has continued its mission to promote safe water access for children by distributing WaterSafe backpacks across several learning institutions and youth sports teams in Nairobi. The recent donations, totaling more than 80 backpacks, have already sparked excitement and shown tangible impact within the communities served.

At Faith Glorious Learning Centre in Mwiki, the organization donated 16 WaterSafe backpacks, a contribution warmly received by staff and students.

Headteacher Madam Joyce Mwaniki expressed deep gratitude, emphasizing that the WaterSafe backpacks are “a critical innovation in promoting safe water consumption and reducing waterborne illnesses.” She noted that the backpacks’ easy-to-clean design offers a major advantage over traditional jerry cans, helping the school maintain better hygiene standards. Madam Mwaniki also praised the training provided to the students, reinforcing their understanding of the importance of accessing clean drinking water.

At Bright Kids Learning Centre, Partners for Care donated 10 WaterSafe backpacks. The training led by WaterSafe Program Manager John left students energized and enthusiastic.

In a statement, school representative Teacher George Omondi highlighted the transformational impact of the donation: “We are deeply grateful to Partners for Care for this wonderful donation. The WaterSafe backpacks are an amazing innovation that will greatly help reduce waterborne illnesses among our children.” He added that the initiative empowers students with essential knowledge about safe water practices, strengthening both health and confidence.

The impact of the WaterSafe initiative extended beyond classrooms and into

community sports. At Huruma grounds in Huruma slums, Partners for Care distributed 48 WaterSafe backpacks to 24 football and basketball teams.

The young athletes were thrilled as they received training on using, cleaning, and safely dispensing water during games and practice sessions. Head Coach Hiram Mosiro praised the donation, explaining that the flexible and portable WaterSafe design provides a practical solution for teams that often struggle to access clean water on the field. The backpacks will help athletes stay hydrated and maintain performance levels in challenging environments.

Across all locations, the WaterSafe initiative continues to deliver a powerful combination of health education, community support, and practical innovation. The team remains committed to expanding this work, ensuring that more children and youth in Kenya have access to safe water, both in school and on the field.
